Remember, Remember the 5th of November....

I love fireworks night! I love standing outside in the crisp autumn air watching all the sparkling explosions in the sky. I think it’s pretty magical.
I so however find it slightly odd that we celebrate the night Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the houses of parliament but I take my hat off to the guy as he has provided us with one of my favourite nights of the year!
There is something so special about fireworks. I think they evoke awe and wonder. They also massively remind me of my childhood. We used to have a family display at our house most years. They would always be the standard rubbish little fireworks, that never made too much of a bang, I think that kind of added to the charm when I now look back! My dad uses to spend what seemed an age trying to light them! Wed always have sparklers too, trying to spell out naughty words with the light trail. The evening would always be finished off with a nice hot bowl of chilli.
Hope you all have a fabulous fireworks night! xx

  1. I think it is his death that we celebrate, there are usually guy faukes models on bonfires, it is a bit of a strange celebration but I do love fireworks x

  2. Happy fireworks night! I'm in Ireland so we don't have it - the dogs will be happy enough with that as they hate fireworks ;) it's illegal here now for people to set off fireworks - only city councils and that can do it but when I was a child my uncle used to before they were banned so great memories :) x

  3. Back in 1605, people started lighting bonfires around London to celebrate that James 1st survived the attempt on his life, a couple of months later the date was turned into an annual public holiday, later on it developed into having some religious overtones, now it's just bonfires and fireworks.

  6. Sounds like you had a lovely time when you were younger with fireworks. Great photos of fireworks. I personally hate fireworks due to the loud noises, it totally freaks me out, but i love all the pretty colours! xx
