A Christmas Card Swap and 2 Bloggers Secret Santa's!

Hello!! I hope you’ve all had a fabulous Christmas and are enjoying this festive time of year! I have till the 5th January off work and it shall only be a 4 day week as the 9th is my birthday and I’m keeping it free to do not too much in particular! This week my aim is to properly relax, catching up on blog stuff, reading, writing etc and make some more pieces for my Etsy shop. As well as spend time with friends and family. I just hope it’s not going to fly by too quickly!

I’m sorry there has not been too many blog posts over the last week, what with Christmas, my laptop dying and my blogging mojo running away I’ve taken an impromptu break! However I am back, as long as my laptop stays alive (think it needs a trip to the shop tomorrow to be fixed, boo!) and today’s post is all about some of the Christmas snail mail projects I’ve been involved in. I love all forms of happy snail mail as you’ll know if you read my blog regularly or join in with The Bloggers Snail Mail I run! Therefore I was super excited when I spotted the following...

Jenny from Sunny Sweet Pea runs a Christmas Card Swap every year and I was so excited to get involved with it this year! Jenny put everyone into groups of 5 and in you need to send everyone in your group a Christmas card. I think this is such a lovely idea and I was so excited to send off my cards and receive some in return! In my group were Danielle, Rachel, Joanna and Rachael, whom I would like to say a massive thank you for their awesome cards and kind words inside them!

Next up are the Bloggers Secret Santa’s I received... I joined in with a couple last year and loved buying treats for a blogger and seeing what I received in return so couldn’t resist signing up again! I signed up for 3 separate Bloggers Secret Santa’s  but only seem to have received presents from 2 of them which is a shame.

The first Secret Santa I came across this year was one Char from ‘t*rexes and tiaras’, she is one of my favourite bloggers and has the most awesome wardrobe going, if you haven’t checked out her blog yet make sure you do! I was give Janet to be Santa for and had so much fun stalking her blog and twitter trying to figure out what to get her, in the end I decided on a Tattoo colouring book as she likes tattoos like me, and I though the book was a pretty fun concept! I also got her a mug with her blogs logo printed onto it. My parcel arrived a couple of days after I sent mine with a big label on it saying do not open till Christmas day! I don’t know how I managed to do it but I did well and waited to the big day and was so excited when I finally got to open it! My Santa was Ann, and she has massively spoilt me! Inside the gift box was a pair of candy cane stripes, a candy cane bubble bar from Lush which is my favourite, some frosted berried tea light which smell amazing. I also received some strawberry foot soak crystals, foot lotion and some chocolate coins, all the ingredients for a good night in! Huge Thank You to Ann!

Next up is the #BloggerSecretSanta14 which was run by Jasmine and Kirsty from ‘Beauty is Perfection’ they asked me to be Santa for Lyndsey so I put together a goody box of things to create a perfect night in. In return Jasmine and Kirsty were actually my secret Santa! They sent me a fun filled box which included some of their favourite products, inside was a bright pink cracker with a nail polish inside, some Soap and Glory body butter and head cream, an organic snail gel moisture mask (unsure about this but willing to give it a go!!), Burt’s Bees lip shimmer  and a yummy selection of sweets! Thank you ladies, I feel very spoilt!

Did you get involved in any secret Santa’s this year or Christmas snail mails?

Empties #3

I seem to have run out of quite a few products in the last few days so though I would share a few of them in an empties post! I’ve not done one of these in so long....

1.    Organix Renewing Moroccan Oil – check out my review of this hair oil here. I love this stuff! I use it daily on the ends of my hair before drying it and it really helps keep it in a fab condition.

2.    Biore Warming Anti-Blackhead Cleanser – I have been using this a couple of times a week. It heats up when on your skin which is a funny sensation and it leaves my skin feeling pretty refreshed. Good if you are having a breakout!

3.    The Body Shops Tea Tree Skin Clearing Cleanser – I found this tended to cause me breakouts and was a little too harsh on skin so I think I will be sticking to my go to Lush toner water from now on!

4.    Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser – I recently reviewed this a while back, which you can find here! I absolutely love this stuff! It’s done wonders for my skin and its smells of those sweets, parma violets!

5.    The Body Shop Deep Sleep Dreamy Pillow and Body Mist – I know this isn’t a beauty products but beauty sleep is important so I am using that as my excuse to include this! I have used this for years on my pillows. It is made from camomile and essential oils and has such a comforting scent. I will definitely be buying more of this!

Have you tried any of these products? How did you rate them?

Motivational Monday #41

As Christmas is now only a few days away, this is my last Christmas themed motivational Monday before Santa visits! The last couple of motivational posts have been pretty light hearted and fun, so I thought id finish on a bit more sentimental note.
This is what Christmas is all about for me, spending time my friends and family, those I love.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas!

My Top Christmas Movies...

My Favorite part of the build up to Christmas is watching as many Christmas films as humanly possible! I absolutely adore them and their feel good spirit! It really gets me excited and counting down to the big day its self! So I thought I would share with you lovelies my top six (I tried to make this 5 as I thought it sounded a better number but just couldn’t cut it down!) all time favorite Christmas films!

Santa Clause the Movie – it has to be the old one not the new one! We watched this every Christmas Eve growing up and it was a fab tradition that we still stick to now!

Love Actually – this one reminds me of my mum and sister who are also huge fans of this film! Definitely one to get the Christmas spirit flowing, who doesn’t love a film with Hugh Grant in it!

Miracle of 34th street – who doesn’t love this film?! Richard Attenborough is the perfect Father Christmas who gets the little girl believing.

It’s a Wonderful Life – this is my all time favorite movie let alone Christmas movie! It is just such a lovely heartwarming film and never fails to make me feel all gooey inside!

The Polar Express – this one melts my cold stone heart every time! Its true Christmas magic! It is just too cute!

Elf – for a laugh a minute you need to watch this film!! I wouldn’t say I’m a massive fan of Will Ferrell I find him massively annoying in most films but this is a massive exception! As buddy the elf he is hilarious and cute, love it!

What Christmas movies get you in the Christmas spirit? would love some new recommendations!

Gift Idea: Glitz Blizzard Jewellery

When Zeynep from Glitz Blizzard recently got in touch with me and asked if id like to check out one of their stunning necklaces, after swooning over their beautiful pieces on their Facebook page I couldn’t resist saying yes!
If you follow this blog regularly then you will know that I am obsessed with all things glitter. Therefore this Glitter Bomb necklace is right up my street! I received a 1inch Heart shaped bezel on a silver plated chain, its green glitter on a heart base with a gorgeous little silver heart in the corner. I love it and have worn it non-stop since receiving it!
I am definitely going to be treating friends for birthdays etc to a piece from Glitz Blizzard, all their pieces are so pretty and fun! If you don’t believe me, go and have a mooch around their Facebook page!

The Christmas Tag!

I love a good tag post! I am a ridiculously nosey person and love finding out a bit more about the bloggers behind the blog, team that with Christmas my favourite time of the year and it’s my perfect tag! I’ve spotted this Christmas tag on a few blogs and thought I would give it ago....
1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
Oooh I absolutely love Christmas movies and must watch hundreds in the month leading up to Christmas! I did a post on this last Sunday so go check it out. I love Elf, Santa Clause the Movie, Love actually... just to name a few! My all time favourite would have to be a It’s a Wonderful Life, it’s just a lovely film that never fails to make me feel all gooey inside and fill me with Christmas magic!
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Without fail on Christmas morning! We have to wait for everyone to get up and my dad usually makes everyone bacon butties and then we can finally open our pressies!
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
It used to be so magical when we were little! We would leave Santa some milk and cookies out on Xmas eve and then the next morning we would come down to a mountain of pressies under the tree and my Nan would always tell us she heard reindeers on the roof the night before!

4. Favourite festive food?
Christmas dinner... a huge turkey roast.. yum yum!! Oooh and a ridiculous amount of chocolate and peanuts, followed by turkey sandwiches on Boxing Day!
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
A few years ago a friend brought me a special edition Harry Potter book set, I LOVE Harry Potter so it was super special to me!
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
A fresh real Christmas tree! The best Christmassy smell ever!
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Yes it usually involves family time, lots of alcohol, a Chinese take away and Christmas movies.

8. What tops your tree?
We used to have this scary looking vintage white angel but sadly a fairy light charred her dress so she went and we now have a big glittery gold star. Our tree is usually gold themed which I love.

9.As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
A horse! As a grownup I don’t even like horses so no idea what that was about!!

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Getting to spend time with friends and family. I love the build up to Christmas, the excitement, choosing presents for everyone. I love all the Christmas parties and recovering the next day in front of Christmas movies! And generally just having a lovely time!
I now tag you all to have ago! Let me know if you do, I would love to read them!

My Christmas Nails!

I haven’t done a nail post in soo long! But I am ridiculously excited about my Christmas nails so I just had to share them with you all! As you can probably tell from my recent posts I am really getting into Christmas this year which is a bit odd for me, I’m not a complete Grinch but I’m usually pretty laid back about it all but this year I am properly getting into the swing of things!

I have been getting gelish done for the past few months as my local beauty salon, as a nail biter I find it’s the only thing that’s stops me biting them! I also love the finished shiny look of them! So when my gorgeous beautician asked if I wanted to try some nail art this year I could resist!

I went for a mix of things, candy cane stripes, snowflakes and a crazily cute Santa’s hat! They are all done in gelish and she did them all by hand! No stencils involved! So impressed with them!

How are you getting into the Christmas spirit? Have you got Christmas themed nails?

Motivational Monday #40

Hehe I bloody love today’s quote! Why should we stop believing in Santa and flying reindeers?! It’s all part of the Christmas magic I love, and at 28 I’m not ready to be a boring ‘grown up’ just yet!
So therefore I challenge you all to embrace the fun and magical aspect of Christmas this week!
Happy Monday Lovelies!

Glitterati by Crown and Glory - Decembers Box

I caved! I re-subscribed to Crown and Glory’s Glitterati Box! (I blame Kezzie’s naughty influence for this ;) !) I was too tempted to see what Christmas delights would be in the December box so I couldn’t resist! And boy, am I glad I did as it is all amazing!
Here is what was in my December box…

1.    Medium glitter hair bow in starry sky – I have wanted one of these for AGES, and I have been wearing it non-stop since it arrived!

2.    A Christmas wreath crown – this hair crown is filled with pinecones, mushrooms, red and white flowers and pieces of fir tree, it is so pretty but is the only piece in the box that I’m unsure of wearing as it’s not really my style.

3.    Metallic blue wired head band – which is 80’s tastic – I am in love!

4.    ‘Everything is going to be fine’ key ring – CUTE!

5.    A purple Christmas cracker – inside was a fab glitter Christmas holly clip – I shall be wearing this a lot in the lead up to Christmas day!

For now I am going to stay subscribed to this gem of a box for a while longer, I adore crown and glory, they create the most beautiful and fun hair pieces and for £20 I think it’s a steal considering what you receive!

DIY: Star Tree Decorations

I love homemade Christmas decorations, they just add such a lovely personal touch to proceedings. I recently spotted on Pinterest these really lovely tree decorations made from twigs. The only issue is having time to dry twigs out! Especially in this miserable wet UK weather! This kind of put a downer on these decorations until I thought I would have a go at making them using brown gardening wire which looks a little twig like! I am so pleased with the final result and thought I’d share a DIY post with you all on how to make these twiggy star decorations!

Brown gardening wire
Thin coloured paper, ribbon or thread of your colour choice.
Scissors
Wire cutters
To make…

1.       Using the wire cutters cut 6 equal length pieces of the gardening wire. I went for 2 inches each but you can alter this depending on how big or small you want your star.
2.       Choose two colours of ribbon, string or thread of your choosing. You are looking to create two triangles, so take 3 pieces of the wire and tie each corner together using your chosen string. Do the same again to create a second triangle.
3.       Place the triangles on top of each other to create a star shape.
4.       Then wrap your string/ribbon/thread around the centre of your star to secure the wire together. I used red string and gold thread to get the look I wanted, but you can use whatever colours you want!
5.       To finish tie a look of string to one of the points of the star and then hang on your tree!
What do you think? Are you a fan of handmade decorations?

#TBT Homemade Christmas Gift Tags!

Welcome #TBT / Throw Back Thursday! Where I am going to be delving into the depths of blog posts past and repost some of my favourites to share again with you all! I haven’t done one of these for ages so I thought a Christmas themed one was due!

They’ve cropped up a few times on pinterest this year as well as on a few blogs I follow and I think they look fab! So I couldn’t resist giving it a go myself.
I found the vintage tags in my craft box at home and the alphabet stamps I came across on Ebay for £4.99, which includes ink. I thought this was pretty reasonable! When they arrived, I was so excited to give them a try, it’s now meant I have done all my Christmas labels already!
What do you think? Do you like to get creative at this time of year?

Woodland #DICraftSwap

Over the past year I’ve really fallen in love with crafting, and just generally being creative again. I don’t think I ever really feel out of love with it, I think life just got in the way and I didn’t really make time for it. That’s all changed lately and I am so glad to be back making things and having fun with craft. So when I found out about Hannahs #DICraftSwap I just couldn’t resist signing up!

Each month she announces a new theme for the swap and then Hannah emails you the person you are sending to, the person you are sending to is not the person you are receiving from. It’s up to you if you want to reveal yourself. Each parcel must include at least one handmade item and one bought gift with the min. value of £3. Spending and making more is entirely up to you.

October’s theme was woodland! I was pretty excited by this as thoughts of leaves, winter walks and woodland fairies started to fill my mind! I was given the lovely Louisa who blogs over at ‘Luthaisea’s Kit’ to create something for!

We are all asked a few questions on the theme and that is sent to whoever is making for you. In Louisa’s, she said her favourite woodland animal is a hedgehog so I decided to make her a hedgehog plushie door hanger. I am so happy with how the little guy turned out!

In the information I was sent about Louisa she said that when she thinks of woodland she thinks of Sunlight lancing through trees, now I love tea lights in jars and started playing with some colourful leaves I had in my craft box. Using some Mod Podge I stuck the leaves around the jar so when the tea light was lit inside the jar the light would shine through the leaves! I was pretty chuffed about my logic on this one and even happier with the result, if I am allowed to say that?!

The final thing I made was a floral crown, woodland reminded me so much of fairytales, mystical creatures and magic. So I thought it would be fun to add this to my package! I make quite a few floral crowns which tend to be filled with huge bright flowers, I wasn’t sure if that would be Louisa’s style so decided to go for a dainty white flower instead. I wish I had a better picture to show you!

Louisa is also a huge fan of Scotland and all things Scottish so I added some tartan material and a thistle necklace which I placed a woodland printed tin. I had so much fun crafting all my pieces and getting my package ready! A few days after I sent off my parcel to Louisa I then received my own in the post!

The gorgeous Jenny who blogs over at Pretty Column had me and I felt thoroughly spoilt when I opened my package! Check out my new buddies...

Jenny had crocheted this fabulous fox and to accompany Mr Fox was this adorable hedgehog. They are both placed on a shelf above my desk looking very cute! I was also sent these great mushroom candles which I have placed above my fireplace. I am not sure I will light them as I like them too much!

Finally I also received this lovely woodland themed pencil case. My bag is ridiculous, I have about 27 pens floating around the bottom of it but can never find one when I need it! So I had great fun pulling them all out and popping them into my shiny new pencil case, I actually feel organised!

Massive thank you to Jenny for such lovely treats and to Hannah for organising this! If you are interested in craft swaps then I really recommend popping over to Dainty and Ivory to sign up. The theme for the next swap is Christmas!!

My Little Cosy Box

‘My Little Box’ is definitely my favourite subscription box by far at the moment! I am in love with the illustrations they use and all the goodies that arrive inside it! This month’s theme is ‘My Little Cosy Box’, the same as Novembers disappointing Birchbox, but I think ‘My Little Box’ has covered this theme pretty well!

Each comes with an A5 illustrated quote, and I have framed a few of my favourites, and I think this month’s is pretty cute and spot on! Inside my box was an espresso mug with a cute illustration and the quote ‘how is your day gonna be?’ which I adore! I haven’t drunk coffee for 7 months now so will another use for this gorgeous mug!

My favourite item has to be the red and white polka dot little cushion that you can heat up in the microwave! I can’t wait to start using this! In the little beauty bag I received a mini Essie polish called ‘cute as a button’, My Little Beauty Volume & Care Mascara and an Aracancil Starliner Black Waterproof Eyeliner, all items I will definitely use!

This box never fails to surprise me and for £11 plus p&p a month, I think it’s a fab price for the quality of goods you receive!

What subscription boxes do you recommend?
