OOTD: Flowers and Spikes

Trousers: ASOS CURVE Peg Trouser in Floral Print
Tee: H&M
I don’t do may Outfit posts as I’m not sure I’m classed as cool enough, or wear enough of a variety to talk about! My usual standard get up is skinny jeans, converse and a slouchy tee. I am very lucky that I can wear what I like to work and it’s pretty casual, I’m not comfortable wearing ‘smart’ clothes so it works well for me!
I really like the outfit I’m sharing with you today, and hope you guys like it too! It’s very ‘me ‘and is what I wore to work yesterday. I love the flower trousers, they are so comfy and remind me a bit of PJ bottoms. They are slouchy but I think they can be dressed up or down. I’ve teamed them with a plain black tee for work which I think smartens it up slightly.

Necklace: New Look
Footwear: Haviannas
Rings: Both Accessorize
Watch: Fossil

I’m a huge accessories fan, I think you can make the most boring outfit exciting with a fab necklace or ring or hair accessory. I think the necklace here really funks up this outfit, it’s grungy but fun.
I am trying to wear my jeans a little less so think outfit is a great alternative!
What do you think of outfit posts? Would you like to see more of them?

BOOK CLUB TAKEOVER: Kayla from 'Style and Truth'

Here are my thoughts… I LOVE hearing other people’s views and reviews on pretty much anything especially books! Some of my favourite reads are ones that have been suggested by other people. So thinking along those lines,’ The Book Club Takeover’ was born! Hopefully each week I will bring to you a post from one of my lovely and amazing fellow bloggers who will in turn share with you what their favourite book is, why they love it and a review. I hope you enjoy this feature as much as I do!

My name is Kayla Reid, I run a blog called StyleAndTruth.blogspot.com. My blog is about finding the perfect outfits for work, school, weekends, and just everyday life. I am writing about the everyday trials of the college student in tight money situations. I am also a Zumba instructor and that plays an important role in my life now.

My favorite book is I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. I love this book because it really teaches you that the relationships that you have help make you who you are. As far as readability on a scale of 1 to 10, you will not put the book down. The book explores the relationships that we make with people and how our actions can change someone's world. It really explores family dynamics and the thread that connects us.

The story follows Ed Kennedy, an underage cab driver who doesn't have too much of a future. When he stops a bank robbery and life changes. He starts receiving Aces in the mail, and Ed becomes the messenger. I don't want to give anything away but his journey really speaks to me because of how he changes and becomes a better person because of it.

Bourjois Paris Manucure Laser Toppings in Blue Neon

I purchased Bourjois Paris Manucure Laser Toppings in Blue Neon a little while ago.  I am a bit like a magpie when it comes to anything glittery or shiny. Therefore I didn’t think twice when I saw this, I just had to make the purchase!
The toppings are like lots of glittery pieces of confetti in blue and purple, I was tempted to put it straight onto my nails and just layer it up but thought it would be cool to do a layer of white polish underneath. I used Barry M Nail Paint in Matt White.
I love the final finish! It looks pretty cool and is so easy to apply.  I will definitely be using this again.
Apologies for my toes! I have a huge feet phobia so they don’t appear on the blog very often but I wanted to share this polish with y’all!

Review: Topshop Sheer Lips in Swirl

If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know I quite like the old Topshop makeup. Therefore whenever I come across something I have not seen before I’m usually pretty keen to give it a try! This is how I ended up purchasing this latest buy, Sheer Lips in the shade Swirl.

The idea of Sheer Lips is that they are very sheer, almost balm-like lipsticks that give you a subtle hint of colour with a moisturised finish. It’s presented like a lipstick but when applied looks a bit like a glossy lip balm. I went for the shade ‘swirl’ as I quite like a coral lip. Therefore I was a bit disappointed with this as it went on as a very nice sheer coral but it did not stay put at all.
However on the flip side, it felt very nourishing and it’s nice to have a natural coral, almost nude colour as I am usually a fan of bright lips. It’s nice to have an option for a toned down look for a change!
I am a little disappointed as normally I am a huge advocate for Topshops lip products. Their lipsticks are among my faves, however in comparison this was a massive let down and I’m not sure it’s particularly worth the £8 price tag. This is the first ‘meh’ review I’ve written a long time, I’m normally raving about exciting new finds, but this just didn’t live up to the hype and I am fan of being all open and honest.

Motivational Monday #24

I can’t believe its the 2nd September already! Anyone else feel like this year is just flying on by? I don’t feel I’ve done anything note worthy this year yet! So I’ve decided this month I’m going to start looking at my future, make plans, start figuring out where I want to go what I want to do.
Hence today’s post, I am going to stop dwelling on things, looking at the past and things I can’t change and start looking towards the future! I want to have things to start looking forward to and to feel like I’m living to the full.
My other aims for September are going to include learning something new and to attempt to do a blog post every day for the month.
Happy Monday Lovelies! xx

Etsy Wishlist - Home #1

As I’ve mentioned before I’m currently back living in the parents abode. Not ideal but I am lucky I have this option and my parents are pretty chilled. It also means I can save, save, save hopefully to go off travelling sometime next year. However this does mean I am hugely brooding over my own space, I miss it like crazy! To make matters worse I am a complete nester, I love collecting bits and pieces for my home and have had this luxury for the last 10 years (although on a budget!) so moving back with the parents has made me twitchy!

So whenever it gets a little too much, I go browsing! Recently I have discovered the website Etsy.com. Yes I know! I am massively late to the party with this but what a great site! There are tons of different sellers and lots of quirky one offs and homemade bits that you won’t find on the high street. I thought it would be fun to share with you all my favorite finds so far!

I love old vintage globes, they remind me of my lust to travel and how important it is too what else is out there, which is why there is one on my wish list. The wine bottle lights would look amazing above an old rustic dining table and the unicorn is blinking amazing!

What to do all think? Do you have any sites you could recommend to me? Anyone else love a bit of nesting?

FOTD: Pretty in Pink

FACE: MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC15, Benefit You Rebel, Benefit Fake Up in 01 Light
EYES: Bare Minerals Eyecolor in Drama, Topshop in Precision Eyeliner, MAC Gel Eyeliner in Blacktrack, Benefit They’re Real Mascara
CHEEKS: Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam, MAC Powder Blush in Coppertone
LIPS:  Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in Lovesick, Bourjois Paris 3D Effet Gloss Shade 53

I haven’t done a face of the day for a little while! I feel like I’ve been neglecting the beauty side of the blog for a while, but that’s all about to change as I have tons of new reviews coming up which I’m really excited about! I thought I’d start it all off with a face of the day though! This is my make up look from last Saturday. I went and visited a friend for the night and she lives near the beach, so we headed to this gorgeous beach bar for a few vinos and a really yummy meal. Was such a great girly night, I love all my friends so much and hanging out with them always puts a smile on my face. As we’ve all got older, submerged in work and relationships it seems harder to meet up but when we do it’s always great, and puts me in a fab mood!

It was a gorgeous sunny evening (I fear it may have been one of the last ones of this summer, boo!) so I wanted to have a simple pretty make up look. I have recently purchased Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in Lovesick which is a gorgeous bright pink which I think was the centre piece of this look. It’s quite bright so I toned it down slightly by applying Bourjois Paris 3D Effet Gloss Shade 53 over the top. I’m conscious the tan I got whilst on holiday has now faded so I used Benefit You Rebel which is a tinted moisture and is slightly darker shade than id use on a daily basis. Then on top of my blusher I added Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam for a bit of a sun kissed look.

This make up look is perfect as it’s different from my every day look but isn’t too much, so perfect to watch the sun set with a glass of wine!
