Fringe Issues

I am currently suffering the hair-mare which is growing out your fringe. I do like having a fringe and think it suits me, however I have super fine hair that gets greasy super quickly. Meaning having a fringe can be hard work, therefore I have decided to grow it out and see what happens.

At present it is at that awful stage where it’s too long to be a fringe but not long enough to do anything other than look a mess. This results in me constantly just pinning it back with a Kirby grip which gets a bit of a bore.
So for the last week I have challenged myself to make a bit of an effort with it and be a bit creative. So here is what my last 6 days have looked like (I was aiming for 7 but as I am having a lazy Sunday morning, I am not sure I want to share my manky unwashed hair look I am sporting today!) …

Apologies for the poor quality pics they were all done on my phone. As you can see I have been relying heavily on quiffs, Alice bands, Scarfs and plaiting said fringe!

Anyone have any style advice for alternative growing out your fringe looks for super fine hair?!

  1. I did this recently! It is a nightmare but I alternated between having a braided fringe at the front in the style of headband, braiding the fringe and clipping it on the side with a pretty flower, incorporating the fringe into a hairstyle eg French braiding the fringe all the way to the back and then tying it up and finally using hair accessories to the max to keep the fringe off my face! It'll get there eventually. It's so frustrating at the start though xx

  2. Growing out a fringe is the worst thing, but just keep at it! I like how you've chosen to style your fringe, perhaps try jazzing it up with a little plait, or maybe getting a grip that has a flower on it or something? xx

  3. I used to just pin it up and curl the rest of my hair :)

  5. Looks cute! I have the same issue with fringe and have decided not to cut it again! It was cute but too high maintenance for my taste.

  6. When I was growing mine out I had it cut into a sweeping fringe to the right side. They are high maintenance but they look great! x

  7. My hair is so fine too, and my fringe is at a very strange length where I just don't know what to do with it. Though you've given me some ideas!

  8. I grew out my fringe when I was really young and haven't regretted it, although I've dabbled in a side fringe a couple of times. Well done on getting fancy with your long fringe!

  10. I have gone through the same thing, I always get a fringe and then get bored and try grow it out! I recommend curling it loosely so it's wavey and then backcombing it a bit and just leave it down without any clips :-)

  11. I've been having this exact issue! Have also stuck to the standard quiff because I genuinely cannot be bothered to spend any time on it! You've done well finding other things to do with it though, may give them a go!
(love your bloggers post as well!) xx

  12. The amount of times I've been in this same situation! The quiffs look really good on you :) I sometimes used to wear my fringe with a slight parting in the middle, a bit like Alexa Chung xx

  13. Such a useful post! Mine is almost grown out but just too short to be finished yet, so annoying!
Love your blog by the way, new follower here :)

  14. I'm in the same boat too! I opted for layers through my fringe so I can brush it sideways - my hair is pretty thick though! Thanks for the link on #fblchat yesterday, now following you on GFC & BlogLovin xx

  15. Hey. Your blog looks lovely! I have the same problem with really thin hair. I tend to part my fringe down the middle and let it drape either side of my face alla Cheryl Cole
